Assemblyman Kevin Kiley to run for Congress in new 3rd District

ROCKLIN, CA – – California Republican Assemblyman Kevin Kiley will run for Congress in the new 3rd District, which is now expected to be an open seat. Kiley currently represents over 67 percent of the voters in the new district, where he grew up and lives.

“The 2022 election will be one of the most important in our nation’s history. Our constitutional and limited government and our personal freedoms are under attack from self-described progressives pushing radical policies. I want to be part of a new majority in the House that will turn back the tide and restore our freedoms,” said Kiley.

Kevin Kiley has led the opposition to Governor Gavin Newsom’s draconian covid mandates that damaged the economy, closed schools and harmed families. He has by far the largest social media following of any legislator, with 64,000 followers on Facebook, 62,000 on Instagram, and 82,000 on Twitter – many of whom live in the new congressional district.

“California is a textbook example of the damage runaway government can do,” said Kiley, “and the Biden administration is trying to make the rest of the country like California.”

Kiley said protecting taxpayers, repairing the economy and defending individuals and job creators from government overreach would be among his top priorities in Congress. He believes in maintaining a strong national defense and foreign policy that protects American interests. Democrats in Sacramento recently removed Kiley as Education Committee Vice-Chairman for speaking out against school closures, student vaccine mandates and critical race theory.

Kevin Kiley is a former prosecutor and Deputy Attorney General who defended the U.S. Constitution in California courts and helped prosecute the civil case against China’s Huawei Technologies for intellectual property theft.

First elected to the Assembly in 2016, Kevin is the author of groundbreaking new laws on freedom of speech, artificial intelligence, privacy, criminal justice reform, and protections for sexual assault victims, along with introducing the most significant school choice legislation in recent years. He was named national Legislator of the Year by the Association of Independent Workers for his work defending economic freedom. Kiley earned his Bachelor’s degree from Harvard, a Master’s degree from Loyola Marymount and a Law degree from Yale.

Over fifty percent of the new 3rd Congressional District’s voters live in Placer County. The next largest block of voters comes from Sacramento County followed by Nevada, El Dorado, Plumas, Inyo, Mono, Yuba, Sierra and Alpine.
