Ted Gaines’ resignation as senator from California Senate District 1 created a chase for the vacancy by four Republicans and one Democrat. It was two Democrats until one dropped out so perhaps the remaining Democrat could garner enough votes to force a two-party runoff. The primary left two Republican candidates — Kevin Kiley and Brian Dahle — on the June general election ballot.
An assemblyman from Lassen County, Dahle is making vicious attacks against Kiley, who, as I’ve said before, is the best person for the job. While Dahle appears to be a conservative candidate, he has said things recently that caused me to investigate in an attempt to reconcile his several conflicting statements and the government employee labor unions that support Dahle with hundreds of thousands of dollars spent for mailers, TV ads and etc.
